THE FARM

BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY

Shah Jahan (literally translated as King of the World) is named after the majestic mountains of Shah Jahan which are the highest point in North Khorasan. The city of Faruj where our office and farm are located sits to the north east of the mountains.

The mountains, clearly visible from the farm, were named after a famous Persian warrior who fought against invaders from invaders from Afghanistan during the 17th century. The warrior Shah Jahan and his band of rebels hid in the mountains before emerging to defeat the invaders and the mountains were named Shah Jahan in his honor.

Our farm was the first to start growing saffron in the Faruj area which has the perfect climate for growing Saffron. At the time that most farmers did not believe that cultivating saffron in the region was possible, our farm successfully started growing saffron and soon the entire area has started growing saffron as well.

The soil and conditions in North Khorasan where Faruj is located are ideal for growing saffron. This is mainly due to the soil being fresh as saffron has only been grown recently in the North as compared to thousands of years of growth in the South resulting in deterioration of soil quality.

The farmers and family who grow the saffron take pride in what they do and its our pride and joy to present this Saffron to the buyer.

SHAH JAHAN MISSION

The specialty of Shah Jahan is whole red thread Persian saffron. Our mission has been always dedicated to offer the premium quality saffron and top saffron grades. Our saffron is harvested from our farm in North Khorasan and its 100% organic red threads are consistently checked to ensure there are no contaminants or chemicals.

Our saffron is made up of full bright red stigmas which have been professionally cut and separated from the style by hand, making sure there is absolute no break or damage to the saffron threads. It’s then naturally flash dried, a method which we have used and perfected over the years.

The speed at which the saffron stigma is dried is critical to ensuring that it is perfect. Once the saffron flower has been harvested, it has to be dried within 24 hours in order ensure that it loses no taste, vitamins, or nutrients and minerals in the process.

You can test the quality of our saffron with just your eyes and nose. The proof of this is when you open one of our saffron packages you will experience an amazing natural crimson red color that comes along with the smooth nice smell of this magical spice that spread all over the place.

The bright natural red color is rated as “Grade I Saffron” in the world and it comes with an inspiring smell which we take pride in selling.
